I don't know who is at fault here, but if your step father is being abused, this is illegal. If his son is stealing his money, this is considered elder abuse and is illegal. You can contact the DA's office in his new town. Where I live, we have two Assistant DA's who work on elder abuse charges but this is ground breaking law work. There are federal laws to protect our elderly, and there is an Elder Abuse Coalition that you can google, also the Department of Justice Elder Abuse web site. You can also call Adult Protective Services in the state he is living and ask how to get this investigated.

My mom and step dad (Fred) married in 1977 and she passed away in1996.  My step dad had his son as total POA until 2013 when I began taking care of him and we learned his son had stolen ss money for close to 20 yrs, liquidated his investments, stole his savings and then tried to sell his house while he lived in it, unaware.  We had him mentally eval. to change his will and revoke POA from his son.  I had medical POA.  His son lives in columbia, SC and he flew to phx. 5-20-15 took his dad, and they flew back to SC 5-21-15.  Fred did not want to go, and wants to come home.  I just spoke with him today and now am barred from further contact by his son.  His son has sold his house, given away all his belongings and has locked me out from trying to retrieve what was my moms.  TOPIC  How can I stop this injustice and be able to see/talk with Fred????  In addition, he and his son "refinanced" my house in 2007.  I, as a struggling single parent, needed help to stay in my home with my young children, 2 of whom have life threatening health issues.  I trusted Fred, and signed a paper signing the house over to his name so he could "refinance".  I just became aware that what he and his son had done was to BUY my house.  I was forced to move out and I NEVER RECEIVED A PENNY.  15 yrs of equity lost because I trusted them to be refinancing and due to that paper, I never saw any sale papers or my final amt owed on my house or amt purchased for.  I should have received this profit.  HELP
