my 18 yo, only child, LD, is pregnant.
what can I say? I am using the skills in the book to be there for her, on her terms, not enable her, take care of myself and all that other hard stuff! Not easy. Good luck

Just wondering if there are other parents out there with adult children that have been diagnosed with multiple learning disabilities. I have a 21 year old daughter, my only child, and because of her LDs, especially perceptual difficulties, we feel she makes poor decisions. She attended a university for 1 year, then quit. Two weeks after that she moved out and lied about living with her boyfriend for months until we found out. She said she lied to protect us. We then took her car away (still in my name) and her cell phone. Not to punish her, but didn't want to enable her or be liable with a car accident! She had time to change paperwork, but never did. Now 2 years later, she's marrying this guy who is a confirmed addict. He poisons her daily about us and we don't know what do to. She doesn't correspond with us too often. We are unemployed and over 50 – hard to find jobs. Lost 2 family members & our dog last year also so we are depressed to say the least. How do you 'get through' to an adult child with LD? How will they ever be successful in life without others taking advantage?
